- The material is specified Y1000 and has
revolutionized the wear prevention field.
- What is Y1000 ? It is a flexible pre-form
containing approx. 85% Tungsten Carbide powder and the balanced
mixture of selected metal powders.
- Why Y1000 ? When taken to a high
temperature the flexible pre-form 'Cloth' becomes near molten and
characterizes itself by bonding to the substrate. Note in the photo
above that the material diffuses into the base metal.
- This characteristic of Y1000 makes it
stand alone in a wide field of coatings. This coating, while defined
as a coating, will not come off due to impact or abrasion. In fact,
the tougher the working environment the better the coating proves
itself desirable to avoiding costly maintenance shutdowns.
